How Much Does Composite Fencing Cost?

  • 3 min read

Whether you are hiring a professional fence contractor or tackling the project on your own, there are many factors involved in the price of the fence project.

Here is a simple breakdown of the costs involved in a Fencing Project. All prices are in Canadian Dollars. Prices will fluctuate over time based on inflation and other factors.

Fencing Materials

  • Composite fence panel, 6ft tall x 6ft wide = $175

This price depends on the quality of the composite system being used.

  • Metal fence posts 9ft long = $90

Posts are typically, 2-3 feet deep in the ground for a 6ft fence.

  • Pre-mixed concrete bags = $6 x 2 = $12

Typically, 1.5-2 bags per post and up to 3 bags per gate post are used.

Gate Materials

  • Basic Pre-assembled Gate up to 44 inches wide = $400

Large gates can require more costly welded gate frames.

  • Basic Gate Hardware = $80

Hardware can range in price and depends on your needs and budget.

  • Gate Post 10ft long = $100

A stronger and deeper post is recommended for supporting gates.

Tools (many tools can also be rented)

  • Tape Measure = $20

For accurately marking cuts and laying out your fencing.

  • Shovel = $40

For digging and moving soil.

  • Safety Glasses = $5

Insurance

Contractors should have insurance which typically costs about $100 per month.

Land Survey

If you are unsure about your property lines, a professional land surveyor should be hired.

This will usually cost about $350 for a small lot.

Truck

You need a vehicle to transport your building materials and tools. Consider the cost of fuel, insurance, and maintenance.

Time

Time is also valuable and some even say that "time is money".

  • Do you have enough time to research and learn how to do the job correctly?
  • Can you get the fencing done quickly so you do not upset any neighbours, especially if the fence is designed to keep pets and children secure?
  • Do you need time to rent and return tools?
  • Is it even worth your time, or should you hire a professional contractor?

Fencing is a simple construction project. However, many factors are involved in the project's overall price and quality.

In the Vancouver area, composite fencing costs about $50 to $70 per linear foot (for material and installation). Many variables affect this pricing such as ground conditions, fence heights, accessibility, and quality of materials.

At ALLJEET, we believe good fences make good neighbours. A fence should be beautiful, strong, and designed to last for a lifetime.

We proudly serve the Vancouver and Fraser Valley area with our professional fence installations and wholesale fence sales.
